Partnering with the Center For Sportfishing Policy (CSP), the Coastal Conservation Association is urging all saltwater anglers to help us push legislators to pass the Modern Fish Act (S.1520) by the end of the year.

The Modern Fish Act will make critically important changes to federal fishing regulations, including several key provisions:

Allows for recreational fisheries to be managed using more appropriate management tools

Modifies the annual catch limit requirement to allow for more adaptive approaches

Requires managers in the southeastern U.S. to perform long-overdue examinations of fishery allocations, based on modern criteria

Reviews catch share programs and provides recommendations to avoid negative impacts to anglers and fishing communities

Promotes consideration of new data collection methods that could improve fisheries management and conservation.

CSP has made it very easy for anglers to send notices to their senators by providing a form to fill out on their website that goes with a pre-written letter.
