Mark your calendar for the beginning of the end for commercial passenger sportfishing, whale watching and dive boats! The California Air Resources Board is tentatively scheduled to rule March 24th or 25th to mandate engine technology that is economically and structurally infeasible for existing vessels.
CARB told the Los Angeles Times, “We assume that a majority if not all sport-fishing boats have to be replaced to comply.”
If the rules pass, they will go into effect next year, leading boatowners to concluded that they will go out of business within 3-6 years!
