For the first time ever, CCA CAL traveled up north to Sacramento for the 2019 International Sportsmen’s Expo. This was the ISE’s 30th year in Sacramento at the CAL Expo Center. All throughout the 4 days of the show, we handed out literature, stickers, and memberships to many of the thousands of people walking the show floor each day. Many of those people were actually very happy to know about CCA CAL and to learn all about what we are already doing currently in Southern California, and were very interested in how we could do the same for them.
One of our main goals for 2019 is to continue our steady growth throughout the golden state as we push chapter development to the north towards the capital and beyond. However, as we cross into the central and northern part of the state, there are many issues that are far different from what we might be used to in Southern California. We’ve always realized and understood this, which is why we spent all 4 days (and nights) reaching out and networking with other local and regional groups hoping to all work together with common goals.
We weren’t alone at the show. Many of our great sponsors were at the show exhibiting. Okuma, Shimano, Accurate, Turner’s Outdoorsman, Izorline, Cedros Kayak Fishing, Baja Fishing Convoys, Costa, Tailhunter Sportfishing, and Fisherman’s Landing were all present at the show as well. The California Department of Fish & Wildlife increased its presence at the show this year by giving the fisheries and wildlife branches their own booth to respond to angling and hunting constituents by answering their questions, and discussing programs and available fishing and hunting opportunities throughout the state. CDFW’s leaders also held a panel discussion about various topics of interest to California hunters and anglers.
