Doug Lasko, president of Ontario, California-based Okuma Fishing Tackle USA, has been elected president of the Coastal Conservation Association of California (CCA-CAL), the result of a unanimous vote of the CCA-Cal Board of Directors.

“Doug is a results-oriented leader with a deep passion for sport fishing,” said Bill Shedd, CEO of Santa Ana, California-based AFTCO and chairman of the board for CCA-CAL “As a board member, his energy, insight and vision have been instrumental as CCA-CAL has initiated programs to promote conservation, improve fishing and address key issues of concern to the anglers in the Golden State.

“Doug’s leadership as president will help ensure that CCA-CAL remains effective and successful as virtually the only nonprofit organization in California representing the best interests of the sport-fishing community.”

Lasko has been a part of the fishing tackle industry for the past 25 years. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Center for Sportfishing Policy.  Throughout his tenure at Okuma, the company has continually supported a wide range of charitable foundations and groups ranging from Captain Rollo’s Kids at Sea to support for first responders and veterans.

“Okuma firmly believes in the conservation of our fishing resources and is a proud supporter of CCA-CAL and other groups advocating recreational fishing opportunities,” said Lasko. “We at Okuma also believe strongly in the programs and efforts undertaken by CCA-CAL, and I am honored to be a part of it.

“There’s much work ahead, but I look forward to leading the way toward enhancing marine resources and improving sport-fishing opportunities for all California anglers through the work of CCA-CAL.”
