On November 7th, thanks to a generous donation by the Larry Brown Youth and Veterans Fishing Charity, the CCA LA Chapter took a group of 16 veterans out fishing. These vets came from all over the Los Angeles community, specifically from the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Blind Center, CAL VET West LA, and the Greater Los Angeles VA Hospital.”

All of these Vets were in very high spirits aboard the Betty-O, owned and captained by Mike Reinsch, operating out of Marina Del Rey. The Calico bass and sand bass cooperated the entire day as if they knew who was on the other end of the line. The highlight of the trip was watching Paul, a 97 year old World War II veteran who participated in the Normandy invasion, catch fish after fish, thoroughly enjoying his day on the water.  While the bass dominated the catch, the vets also caught bonito, whitefish, sand dabs, and the occasional bird.

“It was pretty powerful to watch each one of the veterans who came out enjoy their day out fishing with the LA chapter, and we are looking forward towards taking out more groups of vets in 2019,” said LA Chapter President John Ballotti.
