CCA California has officially started its 7th local chapter in Kern County! On April 8th, CCA CAL staff made the trip up north and hosted a chapter meeting at Cope’s Tackle and Rod Shop in Bakersfield, CA and had a handful of volunteers to come forward to help start the chapter.

Local Bass fisherman Billie Whitted has volunteered and was elected as Chapter President of the brand new Kern County Chapter. Billie has lived in Kern County for over 32 years, and has been fishing both fresh and salt water since early childhood. He also currently serves as president of the Golden Empire Bass Club in Kern County.

“I have always been interested in Conservation  of any public lands either freshwater, saltwater and hunting lands,” said Whitted.

Rounding out his team is Brian English (Vice President), Seth Mostero from Cope’s Tackle & Rod Shop (Treasurer), and Kirk Houser (Secretary).

The brand new Kern County team has big aspirations to become one of the largest chapters in California, and is already hard at work planning their annual banquet and also a members charter in June.

The Kern County Chapter will be meeting once again on May 20th via Zoom at 6pm. If you are interested in joining the new chapter, please contact us.
