In November, the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) will consider allowing commercial longline fishing off of California, and CCA CAL is currently collecting signatures to ask PFMC not to issue permits for longlines.
Fishing clubs are needed to sign our joint letter to the Council. If your fishing club would like to sign onto our letter, please contact us! The deadline to submit letters is November 3rd.
Recreational fishermen are also encouraged to join CCA CAL at the PFMC Council Meeting on November 19th at the Hilton-Orange County in Costa Mesa to give public comment opposing longlines off our coast.
Recently, PFMC authorized deep-set buoy gear as a legal alternative to drift-gillnets.
