The CCA San Diego Chapter held their annual banquet once again at Hubbs-Seaworld Research Institute (HSWRI) and had a great turnout filled both with old friends and new faces. HSWRI were fantastic hosts this year as they generously donated the venue to CCA CAL for the evening, which boasted some great times for everyone in the room.

Throughout the first half of the banquet, our guests had the opportunity to take tours of the HSWRI facility and got a first hand look at the hatchery program. A new addition to the program were over 1 million baby halibut who were all the product of fish that were captured on the recent broodstock trips taken by the chapter earlier in 2019 and late 2018.

Once tours ended, there were plenty of great raffle items and some amazing live auction items that our guests took part, generously donated by our sponsors. We also had a very special guest speaker, Don Kent, President of Hubbs-Seaworld Research Institute, talking about the amazing work happening at HSWRI and Pacific Ocean AquaFarms.

We’d like to thank you Jeff Squirres from One Cool Tuna, Rosie and Jeff Flowers from Cedros Sportfishing, CCA CAL State Board Member Wendy Tochihara from Izorline, Kevin Nakada from Hobie Fishing and Ron Lane from Fast Lane Kayak and Sailing Center for having tables in the patio so that our guests could ask questions about their product and services.

Also a big thanks goes to Robert Taylor from CCA National, CCA CAL Chairman Bill Shedd, and CCA CAL State Board Members Ali Hussainy and Bob Kurz for coming to our banquet. And finally, thank you to all of our generous donors for the 2019 San Diego Banquet who donated product, trips and services for our premium target raffle, and live and silent auctions!
